Understandably,
an island the size of Saba does not support any large mammals.
The only native mammals are several species of bats. Saba has
one endemic Anole lizard species (found on Saba only and nowhere
else in the world), which is quite common. Also common is the
Red-bellied racer snake, a harmless, non-poisonous snake that
occurs on Saba and St.Eustatius only. The Common Iguana is not
abundant but can be seen occasionally on the walls along the road
and on the slopes towards Spring Bay.
