Tom.
Tom is a marine biologist and came to Saba to establish
the Saba Marine Park. He is one of the co-founders
of the Saba Conservation Foundation and it was his
idea to create an eco resort on Saba. After gradually
retiring from his work in the field of nature conservancy
he got involved in the ecolodge. You can find him
in the garden or he prepares a delicious breakfast
for you. On Wednesday night he gives an interesting
slide presentation about Saba’s Flora and Fauna.
If you don’t know what plant, bird or fish you
have seen, ask Tom, if he doesn’t know it right
away he will know where to find the answer.

Heleen.
Heleen is Tom’s wife. Normally she is one of
the first you come in contact with as she takes care
of the reservations and e-mail correspondence. Heleen
is a professional artist. She decorated the cottages,
made the signs, and placemats, and you can find her
work all over the island. Her watercolors and oil
paintings are for sale in the Peanut Gallery and Tropics
Café. She also painted the mural in the Roman
Catholic Church in the Bottom.

Bernt.
Bernt, the chef, is Tom and Heleen’s son. His
skills have earned the Rainforest Restaurant an excellent
reputation on Saba and guests are raving about his
dishes. The Restaurant serves vegetables, herbs and
fruits that are organically grown in the hotel garden,
adding special taste and flavor to his dishes.

Dana is Bernt’s wife. The two of them got a
